The TV program called "News 23" by TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System) broadcast the abducting mother's statement without any investigation whether her statement was true or false. She insisted "The domestic violence by my husband against me was severe. I could not leave my daughter in the US."
Furthermore, Ms. Kazuko Ito, who was introduced in the program as an attorney (of the abductor) who has a thorough knowledge of Hague Convention, stated "The children are forced to return to the country of their habitual residence, even when the parent will go back to his/her native country with the children because of DV (domestic violence) such as moral harassment."
She also said "Nobody is happy as a result of the act (the abducting mother's arrest). We have to think carefully whether it is right for the state to intervene with its power in a family issue, to make one of the members in the family guilty, and to inflict upon her/him criminal punishment."
However, the mother admitted the petition of "DV" against her ex-husband was false in court.
Besides, we can judge without any difficulty whether the statement made by Ms. Kazuko Ito, "Nobody is happy as a result," is true or not just by seeing the picture of Mr. Garcia and his daughter Karina after their reunion.
Mr. Garcia expressed that he would allow his ex-wife to see Karina often.
We do not explain here how tremendously the statement made by Ms. Kazuko Ito causes misunderstanding because we have already explained this in another column.
However, even if we do not explain it, anybody, who follows the series of the news about this case, can understand "what is true," "what is the happiness of family," and "who prevents us from being happy."
